Practice History:
I have been operating as a sole-practitioner since November 10,
1983.

Practice Philosophy:
I have learned that to operate in a smaller environment and to offer personalized service
is far more rewarding to me than the prestige of being associated with a larger
public accounting firm. The single most repeated compliment I receive from
my clients is that they have never worked with a CPA that cares about them as
much as I do. I believe in the phrase "your success is my
success." Another compliment I receive often from business clients is
how great it is to work with me each year. In larger firms, where
professional staff turnover is a daily event, small business clients may not work with the
same accountant each year. Accordingly, a learning curve is a part of
their annual accounting and tax fee. This is not the case with me.
Not only does this continuity allow for a "team" approach to
completing year-end engagements, but, since I am not wasting professional time
re-learning about your business, I am more able to make suggestions that will
improve your accounting system or business efficiency. All this adds up to
increased profitability.
Professional Development:
To maintain my license to practice accounting in the state of Maryland, I
must earn 80 continuing professional education credits every two-years. Additionally, I participate in the AICPA's Peer Review
Program. Every three years, I hire a specially trained CPA to examine my
firm's system of quality control. This examination includes the random
selection of accounting and auditing engagements, which are then reviewed
extensively, for compliance with professional standards. The results of
this review are presented to a specially designated board of the MACPA, which
examines the findings of the Reviewer. Upon satisfaction of all
formalities, the AICPA and The MACPA approves the review and issues me a letter
stating that my firm has successfully completed its Peer Review. Since
this is such a valuable learning experience, and a critical element of the CPA
industry, I engage the best in the field to perform my Peer Review. This
assures my clients that I am providing accounting and auditing services, as they
should be.
Personal:
I am a native of Maryland and I am married and have two children. I
have served as a volunteer youth athletics coach for the Montgomery County Recreation
Department for over fifteen years. I am the founder and master instructor of Flowering Masters
School of Korean Martial Arts and I am the founder and head coach of Childsave™, a safety and awareness
program that I developed for elementary school children in 1990. Additionally, I
am a rock climber and wilderness survival enthusiast.
